About me

Hello! My name is Tamara Salisbury and I'm a 20-something new-ish high school English teacher.

After high school, I attended K-State where I met my husband Brandon.  We were in the same small group in a leadership class that we both took our first semester there. We started hanging out and then dating before the end of the semester, and got married at the start of our senior years in 2008.

He was in a five-year master's program, so I stayed for a fifth year to get my master's degree as well. My bachelor's degree is in secondary education, English and journalism, and my master's is in curriculum and instruction, reading and language arts. After graduating, we moved to a small town near Brandon's parents where I got a job teaching middle school language arts and eventually high school yearbook.

Then, I got a call about my alma mater needing a high school English and math teacher. Now I wasn't thrilled about the challenge of teaching math (not to mention studying and passing that test to become certified!), but I WAS super excited about coming home to teach. And, to be honest, those middle schoolers were EXHAUSTING.

So, we packed up our then 9-month-old son and moved closer to home. Since then, I taught one year of applied math before needing to take more sections of English. I now teach sophomore and senior English and the news website (21st Century Journalism) class.

Then life through us a curve ball, and we had our twins, a boy and a girl, at the end of my first year back on Mother's Day! In my spare time, I read, do various craft projects, enjoy time with my kiddos, and try to get some down time with the hubby. Honestly, I couldn't ask for much more out of life!
